baby dancin' and job quittin'

So this week has been fun!

I've finally started to feel the baby moving around in my belly! WOOHOO! After I *thought* I felt him a few times, I had a few definite jabs and I knew it was him!
Last night, Joe tried (for like the 3rd time) to feel him from the outside. I poked my belly and moved him all around until he started fighting back! Joe had his hand on my belly and looked up at me all shocked and said "Was that him?! He's strong!"

Umm.. duh. He does that to me all day while I am trying to teach classes!

Speaking of classes... tomorrow I am planning to tell my principal that I am not coming back next year.

I'm nervous, but I know I'm doing the right thing.

It's official... I'm old and no fun.

*sigh*
I knew it would become apparent eventually.
We went to see The Avett Brothers and Dave Matthews last night.

Joe and I have both seen Dave multiple times and we were mainly excited to see the Avetts. I have been a HUGE fan of them for about a year now- they are amazing. They're from Concord, NC (near Charlotte) and have a completely unique and amazing sound.

*swoon*

Anyways, I was so pumped about the concert- the Avetts were amazing, but then it started getting a little crowded in the lawn right before Dave Matthews came out.
What I didn't count on was all of the drunk and high little kids- high school and college- all around us. Over the course of the 1 (ONE!) hour that we were in the lawn, I had beer spilled on me, 3 joints offered to me (hello?! huge stomach?!), and one girl actually fell on me. ON ME.
Needless to say, it was not as fun as I expected it to be. I got super irritated and Joe finally moved us out to the picnic tables by the food- it was way better out there.
My sweet sweet husband feels really bad about all of the junk and how annoying everyone was (they were annoying him too- and he had had a couple beers!)- so bad, that he woke up this morning early to buy tickets on pre-sale to see ONLY the Avett Brothers in August (oh, wow, I'll be huge by then). The good news? This venue has seats! And we're on the second row!
I love that man.

20 weeks- HOLY CRAP! Halfway done!

How far along? 20 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: As of 2 weeks ago I'd gained 4 lbs... it's probably more now!
Maternity clothes? yes, please.
Stretch marks? New ones? No.
Sleep: I sleep well until either Rufio or Joe touches me- then I'm wide awake and, I'm pretty sure, growling at them.
Best moment this week: Seeing the baby at the u/s and finding out HE'S A BOY!
Movement: Sometimes I *think* I feel him, but it's gas. Sorry people. Pregnancy is gross. However, there have been 3 different instances when I wake up and feel a hard spot on my belly and a second later, it's soft (Joe felt it too!). The Dr. said that could be his head or butt sticking out and then moving! So that's cool!
Food cravings: Those popsicles that are basically cool-aid in a tall, skinny bag and you cut off the top to eat them... we call them Chilly Willies. I ate 6 last night.
Gender: BOY!!!!!!!
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? Still in, though Joe swears its getting shallower... weirdo.
What I miss: beer. Magic Hat #9 to be precise.
What I am looking forward to: feeling him move!
Weekly Wisdom: It's pointless to get all upset or nervous over nothing. The entire week leading up to the u/s, I was asking Joe "What if I can't feel it kick because it has no legs?" or "What if it's missing an arm?". I got REALLY nervous the morning of, but we went in and he's 100% healthy! Great heart, great brain, great kidneys, great tummy- everything! All that worrying for nothin'.
Milestones: Finding out it's a boy!

Hello there!

Ok, I've been trying to keep up 2 blogs- a baby blog and this one but that is dumb and I can't do it anymore! I give up- I'm putting baby stuff in here.

We met our little boy on Wednesday! (yeah... he doesn't have a name yet.)

and here's his peenie weenie (no, I will not call it that to his face once he is born):

I also thought it would be cute to take pics of the first purchases that Joe and I made for the little guy. Here's mine: (AAAAAAAHHHHHH SO CUTE!)
.... and Joe's:

... and YES, I did explain to Joe that it will be quite a while before theboybabywithnoname needs a regulation size football (or a $30 REGULATION SIZED FOOTBALL at that!). However, he told me it wasn't for him to play with, it was for him to pose next to for pictures. Ok...

Excitement.

I mean REALLY!!!!

I am a very bad blogger...

Yeah... it's been a while.
Between a few snow days here and there and days off of work for holidays, not to mention morning sickness- I've just been slack around here. The good news- this is the last week of Cheerleading! YAAAY!

Now don't get me wrong, I <3 (most of) these girls to death, but at some point, I'd like to go home at 3:30, please. Especially when I'm exhausted and all I want to do it lay on the couch watching DVR'ed "Deliver Me" (I'm starting to think I have a problem).

Something that's been on my mind lately is my life after May. "The Plan" is for me to take a year (or possibly more) off from teaching. I'm not a huge fan of the district I'm in (the people are great, but it's just so far away! AND I'm learning that I am NOT called to work with middle schoolers in an educational setting. We don't mesh.) AND I just want to be home with the baby for that first year.

But then I got to thinking "Who do I think I am to walk away from a perfectly good job, when, in this economy, there are a TON of people who can't find work at all!? What makes me think I'll be able to 'get back out there' when the time is right for our family?" A TON of districts around here have hiring freezes- for example, when I leave, they won't replace me. They'll either NOT have music, or have the high school music teacher come by a few times a week. I just can't stop thinking about that.

I feel like I'm free-falling from a high trapeze with no net.
(Well, I guess Joe's salary is a net... but not a huge bouncy safe-looking net)

ANYWAYS, the reason I'm even here at home and able to blog at the moment is because I've had a teeny bit of spotting this weekend and, being the massive worrier that I am, I called the Dr. who aid everything sounds fine, but that she'd have me in for an ultrasound just to "ease my mind".
So here I am, 9:40am on a Tuesday, just finished an Egg McMuffin, about to jump in the shower, very much ready for some "easing of my mind".

Go Cyclones!

In attempt to NOT be in a foul mood all day (dispite the fact that I will not be getting home until around 9pm tonight) I am trying to be SUPER optimistic about our away game this afternoon!

I'm even attempting to make a list of all the fun things about away games.

1) ... bus rides are fun... right?

2) ... we're riding on the girl's bball bus, so I won't have to worry about anything going on with the boys- they'll be on a completely separate bus!

3) ... it's always fun to see other schools.

4) ... the girls' friends aren't all there to distract them!

5) ...bonding time?

6) ... I do get paid a little extra for this, after all.

7) ... doesn't this look like the most fun EVER?!
